A New Model for High Frequency Quasi Periodic Oscillations in Black Hole candidates

**Resum**

*Observations of X-ray emissions from binary systems have been considered important tools to test General Relativityin strong-field regimes. The high frequency quasi-periodic oscillations (QPOs) observed in binaries containing a black hole candidate, in particular, have been proposed as a means to measure more directly the black hole properties such as its mass and spin. Numerous models have been suggested to explain the QPOs and the rich phenomenology accompanying them.Here a model is presented in which the QPOs result from basic $p$-mode oscillations of a small accretion torus orbiting around a black hole. Within this model the key properties of the QPOs can be explained simply, given a single reasonable assumption. In the presentation, equal emphasis will be given to the analytical and numerical aspects of the model, providing a short report on the previous investigations that made this research possible.*
