Collapse simulations of stellar cores in full general relativity

Gravitational collapse of (rotating) stellar cores is one of the important astrophysical phenomena: the corresponding topics are (i) supernova explosion mechanism, (ii) gravitational emission, (iii) mass threshold for BH/NS formation, (iv) relations with other high energy phenomena, (v) nucleosynthesis, and so on. After giving a (rather) short review for them, I will talk about results of our recent simulations in which we explore the topics about (ii) and (iii); more precisely, (1) a criterion for prompt black hole formation, and (2) possibility of the onset of dynamics instbilities and GWs from them.
